Marc Kidson
Managing Consultant
Marc joined Mutual Ventures in 2026, bringing fifteen years of experience in public service reform across central and local government in the UK and state government in Australia. He joined MV from PA Consulting, where he had led client engagements including as Programme Director for the REACh Consortium, the Department for Education's delivery partner on the SEND and Alternative Provision Change Programme, working with 32 local areas to test and refine new approaches to inclusion.
Before consulting, Marc worked inside the public sector in a range of transformation and reform roles. He began his career at the Institute for Government, researching Civil Service Reform and effective policy implementation. From there he moved to London Borough of Haringey, first in their Corporate Delivery Unit and then later becoming Head of Strategy and Transformation, leading reform across Children’s Services, Adult Social Care and Health. In 2018 he moved to Sydney, Australia to take up the role of Director, System Reform at the New South Wales Department of Education in Australia, playing a leading role in school improvement reforms and cross-agency working on safeguarding children and supporting families.
At MV, Marc works across DfE and children's services as well as place-based reform, bringing particular expertise in whole-system change and the practical conditions that allow relational practice to take hold. He is especially interested in how leaders and teams work well together under conditions of complexity and uncertainty, which is the focus of his research on the Doctor of Management programme at the University of Hertfordshire.
Marc was born and raised in Somerset and now lives in Bath with his wife and two young children, who keep him busy when he is not working or studying.
