Kate Copeland
Consultant
Kate joined Mutual Ventures with a background in consulting in New Zealand. She brings a dynamic, evidence-driven approach to improving public services, grounded in Human Centred Design principles and experience delivering mixed-method research and evaluations. Her work in New Zealand spanned health, social development, justice, climate change and energy. She project-managed national maternity guideline updates, contributed to multi-country climate change programme evaluations in the Pacific, and delivered consumer insight research for food safety agencies.
Since joining Mutual Ventures, Kate has led the national expansion of the Department for Education’s Designated Family Judge Trailblazers pilot, engaging stakeholders across the family justice system and sharing best practice to improve court timeliness.
She has also worked across Local Government Reorganisation and Radical Place Leadership, developing evidence bases and place profiles to inform options appraisals, and co-designing Norfolk’s Community Engagement Model to strengthen community voice in decision-making. Kate is currently supporting Islington Council to design and implement a Neighbourhood Operating Model, introducing a test-and-learn approach to piloting, refining and embedding a more integrated, community-focused way of delivering services that better meet residents’ needs.
Outside of work, Kate takes advantage of having Europe on her doorstep and enjoys catching up with friends.
