PossAbilities is a social enterprise co-owned by staff and service users, which MV supported initially during the spin-out from Rochdale Council in 2014. The organisation deliver a range of services for people with learning disabilities and other vulnerable people, their carers and families.
Our work with PossAbilities has helped them to develop and grow sustainably – using tools and expertise to support their business planning and development of commercial skills. This included:
- Reviewing their tendering process and bidding for specific opportunities;
- Developing a social impact measurement approach; and
- Developing a new management information system (including the creation of a data management dashboard).
Following our support, PossAbilities have been extremely successful, winning new contracts worth £6.5m which increased their turnover by circa 50%, and being one of six nominees for the Social Enterprise of the Year 2016 award. In 2016, The Care Quality Commission also rated the service as “outstanding”, putting it in the top 1% of providers nationally.
Rachel Law, Chief Executive, PossAbilities: “Mutual Ventures’ support to develop our business plan, and then turn it into reality, has been invaluable. Their team were able to quickly and effectively continue with the work already undertaken and generate a feeling of confidence and trust amongst staff. Their robust and practical approach, coupled with their impressive knowledge and experience and a continual focus on delivering on their promises, was greatly appreciated by the team and was a major factor in the success of the project. I would highly recommend Mutual Ventures.”
