In early 2014, Mutual Ventures forged a partnership with Deloitte and Innovation Unit to support innovation in practice and structures across the Children’s Social Care sector.

Working together as “Spring Consortium” the partnership brings together three organisations with a compelling breadth and depth of skills, knowledge, insight, ideas, energy and passion for the sector.

Spring Consortium was appointed as delivery partner to the DfE Children’s Social Care Innovation Programme in June 2014.

The Children’s Social Care Innovation Programme seeks to support the development, testing and sharing of effective ways of supporting children who need help from children’s social care services. To date, 53 projects have been supported by the programme to test, improve and spread innovative practice and new models of delivery in the sector.

Over the next four years, approximately £200m is committed to the DfE’s innovation and improvement work. This is primarily focused on two priority areas; rethinking children’s social care, and rethinking the transition into adulthood for adolescents in the social care system.
